Points Guards are the talk of the NBA this season and last night four of the top five or six put up huge numbers in overtime thrillers.
There were two amazing games last night that had playoff like atmosphere's and its only February. The first one was between the Nuggets and the Jazz in Denver. The final score was 118-115 jazz, this was the Jazz 10 straight win and they did it in brilliant fashion. But on to the point guards…Deron Williams lead his team to victory with 29 pts, 11 assists, and 6 boards and for the Nuggets some guy named Allen Iverson put up even better numbers in the losing effort, he had 34 pts, 10 assists, and 3 boards. They both hit huge threes late in the game to either tie the game or put there team up. In the end though it was the Jazz who just made more shots and stuck it out.
Now the other game was even better. It was between the two best teams in the West…the Suns and the Hornets. This game featured the best point guard in the NBA, Steve Nash and the next best point guard, Chris Paul. These two point guards put up even better numbers then the other two…Nash had 32 pts, 12 dimes, and 4 boards while in the win Paul had 42 pts, 9 dimes, 5 boards and 8 steals. WOW WOW WOW…thats pretty much all I can say. The conclusion of this game was like a college game with Peja hitting a shot with no time left on the clock to give his team the victory.
These 4 point guards I believe right now are all MVP candidates and I am going to tell you that two of the four of them will be in the top three for the MVP voting. I will now rank these four point guards as I see them…4. Deron Williams, he has a very nice compliment with Carlos Boozer, so thats why he is number 4 because I dont know how well he would do with out Boozer. 3. Chris Paul the only reason he did not break the top two is because he is still very young and has to get his team into the playoffs and win…2. Allen Iverson, he has gotten a team to a championship but not in a while, and he still has to win some playoff games in Denver…1. Steve Nash the MVP of the league this year again, so far. All he has to do to be one of the best point guards in NBA history is get his team over the hump of that Western Conference Final and this year just might me the year with the accqusition of the diesel…But only time will tell.
